5 Ways to Get Involved This Season

During the holiday season last year, the Lord really burdened my heart. I met a grandmother in our community who was working her tail off to provide for her three grandchildren. She was hungry, and in need of food for her sweet babies. Meeting this woman and hearing her story inspired me to put together a list of great organizations in the community to volunteer with this holiday season.

Please note, there are many wonderful organizations in Northwest Arkansas, and I am not able to list them all. This is a short list of organizations. My goal was to think outside of the box, and these are in no particular order:

1. Sharing and Caring
“Sharing and Caring is a non-profit organization focused on children and lending a helping hand to their families who are financially struggling during the holiday season.”

How you can help:

Sorting gifts 11/30, 12/1, 12/2

Distribution day 12/9

Please check their website for more information www.sharingandcaringkids.com

2. Saving Grace
“Saving Grace is a Christ-centered home in Northwest Arkansas offering hope and transformation to young women lacking critical supports. We provide relationships, skills, and resources to empower generational change.”

3. March of Dimes
“March of Dimes helps moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. If something goes wrong, we offer information and comfort to families. We research the problems that threaten babies and work on preventing them.”

How you can help:

The March of Dimes makes deliveries to parents with babies in the NICU. They make care packages including snacks, toiletries, journals, etc! They need help with creating bags, distributing, and writing notes of encouragement!

4. Havenwood
“Havenwood helps single mothers move from crisis to self-sufficiency.”

5. Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter
“The Children’s Shelter is designed to meet the needs of these children by providing them with a safe and loving environment to reduce their trauma, through support and nurturing.”

How you can help:

There are many ways to support the Children’s Shelter this holiday season, there is a big need for toys ages birth to 17 years old.

Visit their website www.nwacs.org for more information or email [email protected] and they can provide a detailed list of the items needed.

Most importantly, the common factor in all of these organizations is that they wouldn’t be able to do what they do without support from our community!

Happy Holidays!!
